Sockeye salmon, Oncorhynchus nerka, are red salmon found in the north Pacific Ocean. They are often termed wild Alaskan salmon. A good source of protein, wild salmon is high in antioxidants, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, low in saturated fat and free of detectable mercury.
